Description

SFC Engineering Partnership, Inc. was solicited to provide fire alarm system design and site review/inspection services to the University of New Hampshire for their Dimond Library. The Dimond Library was an existing building which contained Assembly and Business Use Groups. It was located at 18 Library Way in Durham, NH, and was to receive an upgrade to its automatic fire alarm system. The existing fire alarm system was replaced by one which met the applicable portions of the NH State Fire Code, and more specifically the International Building Code, Life Safety Code and the National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code.

The fire alarm system was connected to a reverse polarity Keltron system which called into the University of New Hampshire’s (UNH) remote supervising station. The system design included initiation by manual pull stations, sprinkler monitoring, and automatic detection in the form of smoke, heat and beam detectors. All of the devices included in SFC’s design were arranged to comply with NFPA 72-2010.

SFC has formed a strong relationship with the University of New Hampshire, along with many other New England colleges. SFC works with UNH on a regular basis, and intends to continue supporting them with all of their engineering needs.
