Description

The city of Portland, Maine had a seawall that needed repair on the portions of the wall that had collapsed. The seawall was constructed of large cut stones. The city issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the repair of the wall using a proprietary large precast concrete wall. Redi-Rock of Central Maine, a supplier of a different large precast concrete blocks, worked with several of the contractors bidding on the project to prepare an alternate proposal. After the construction contract was let, SFC worked with Redi-Rock to prepare a design for the project.

One thing that was unique about this project was that the soils were very soft and the wall was sitting on a pile-supported concrete footing.
